Green Councilmember Cam Gordon Congratulates 15Now Ballot Initiative

Congratulations are in order to 15 Now Minnesota, Centro de Trabajadores Unidos en Lucha,  MN Neighborhoods Organizing for Change (NOC) and all the organizers and volunteers of the minimum wage ballot initiative for the incredible job they did collecting and submitting nearly 20,000, as well as to the City Clerk's office staff for the thorough job they did validating the signatures.

Why? Because this morning the City Clerk informed the Council and announced to the public, that the petition has a sufficient number of valid signatures to put the minimum wage Charter amendment proposal on the ballot this November.

Green Party Minnesota Chair Response to #i94ShutDown

i94shutdown.jpgI am quite horrified by mainstream media reports that read like police department public relations pieces and Saint Paul DFL Mayor Chris Coleman's victim blaming this morning over last night's #i94shutdown.

I was there, unlike Coleman, and heard protesters (I was one of them) beg police to let children out before they were hit with gas and concussion grenades.

In light of the recent outrageous and even hateful reports related to how transgender people are being treated by some units of government, it was particularly moving and, I hope, significant that our local City Council passed a resolution yesterday that will commit the city to 3 things:

Jill Stein Wins GPMN Presidential Straw Poll

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
March 1st, 2016

JILL STEIN WINS GREEN PARTY MINNESOTA CAUCUS

With 100% of Minnesota Green Party Caucuses reporting, Dr. Jill Stein has won our Presidential Straw Poll with 84% of the vote.

While these votes do not determine Minnesota's delegates to the Green Party U.S. nominating convention, they are a great indication of member support for our recognized candidates. The official Green Party Minnesota delegate vote will take place in June at the Statewide Membership Meeting in St. Cloud (exact date and location to be determined).

"We are very excited to see the enthusiastic response for our candidates seeking the Green endorsement for President. As we are seeing with the two major parties, the public is clearly desperate for candidates they view as "outside" the political establishment. We share in the frustrations everyday Minnesotan's have with corporately owned politics and we are here for them as a principled alternative to that." -Brandon Long, Green Party of Minnesota Spokesperson
