The Green Party of Minnesota stands in solidarity with the family of Philando Castile today, in the wake of a devastating verdict. We share the outrage of both the family and the community over the system failing Philando, as it has for countless other black and brown people.

"We are not 2/3 of a person - we deserve the freedom, liberty, and justice that EVERY human being should have. My heart goes out to the family on this day and I will continue to work tirelessly and unapologetically to make sure that this broken system is reformed and that our communities of all identities are safe. Forget your political direction of left and right. We need to be thinking forward," said Green candidate for Minneapolis Ward 3 Samantha Pree-Stinson.

We will continue to support the mass movement for justice for all those killed and injured by police violence. The Green Party key values of Nonviolence and Social & Economic Justice compel us to join our brothers and sisters working for change both in the streets and at the ballot box.

We call on all Greens and other concerned people to peacefully demonstrate in opposition to this latest injustice, and to support organizations working for real change in our communities.
